Enrolled agent status is the highest credential awarded by the IRS.[The EA credential is recognized across all 50 U.S. States.  Attorneys and Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) are licensed on a state by state basis, and are also empowered by the Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS.  In addition to the stringent testing and application process, the IRS requires Enrolled Agents to complete 72 hours of continuing professional education every three years.

A Certified Bookkeeper (CB) is to bookkeepers what a CPA is to accountants: the cream of the profession.

Internal controls and fraud prevention.

A Certified Bookkeeper has at least 3,000 hours’ (two years’) experience, and committed to a code of ethics.

A Certified Bookkeeper must earn an average of 30 continuing professional education credits a year to maintain certification.
